The Event

Information now coming to light has revealed to aware observers that the institutional power of the world lies in the hands of very terrible people. These people have access to powerful weaponry, including nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons.

Imagine a bank heist where a man enters a bank with a dozen bricks of explosives strapped to his chest, all wired to a detonator that he holds in his fist. His thumb is on a "dead man's switch": if the police shoot him, his thumb releases the spring-assisted detonator button, and the bombs instantly destroy anyone inside the bank. This is the situation that every human on the surface of this planet lives in today - unbeknownst to most.

Plans are in place to remove these people and implement solutions to the broken systems of the world.
The solution has three main parts:
1. Global arrests of globally organized criminals,
2. Cancellation of all debts and a redistribution of wealth, and
3. Disclosure of information previously withheld from the public.

My primary goal on Egora is, as a philosopher, to lay out the academic framework we may use to educate reasonable people about the efficacy of such a plan. I intend to demonstrate several points, including but not limited to:
A. The necessity of globally synchronized efforts to arrest international criminals from a moral and practical basis.
B. The efficacy of a global cancellation of debts, and an argument that debts incurred under a criminal hostage situation are de facto unenforceable under a reasonable rule of law.
C. Suggestions as to what disclosure might entail, and how to best handle the process of disclosure. Many of us 'paying attention' to the news are experiencing (very understandable) symptoms of trauma. It seems reasonable to suspect that greater revelations may yet be given to the public, and possibly on a faster timeline than one might expect.

My secondary list of goals is related to society's structure once the Event has taken place. These are listed as a continuation of the previous set, as the two subjects are indelibly linked and will naturally see 'overlap'.
D. A framework for electing leaders in a post-Event world.
E. Contingencies for systems of government that include a rapidly changing society after the release of advanced technologies - these technologies will create a post-scarcity world, where material possessions and energy are available to all citizens in abundance.
F. Contingencies for systems of governance that will include the reality of off-planet travel.
G. Contingencies for systems of governance that will include the reality of open contact with extraterrestrial intelligence, whether these intelligences are friendly, neutral, or adversarial.

These decisions are surely being discussed in great depth and seriousness by minds brighter than mine. Logic maintains, with near certainty, that individuals with more resources and ability than I are working towards these solutions at the present moment. It is, however, my duty to strengthen the network of social cohesion amongst whoever of those within my sphere of influence are willing to participate in this global transition
